The Canterbury Tales - Golden Cockerel Press - 1929-1931
Produced and Illustrated throughout by Eric Gill.

Bound in quarter red-niger morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe. This work took two and a half years and is one of the most sought after of the Golden Cockerel Productions.

This large set was owned by the dedicatee, Hubert Pike, who provided the funding to bring the press out of bankruptcy and continue producing such magnificent works in an atmosphere that was further fueled by the hedonistic nighttime revelry in which Gibbings, his wife Moira and their close friend Eric Gill participated.
