‘Beat To Quarters’ in the US.
A young Hornblower is captain of the 36-gun frigate Lydia; he sets course for Spain and Nicaragua in his ongoing quest ti cut Napoleon’s lines wherever he crosses them. Octavo, pp 287. Publisher’s green cloth. Light spotting to edges. Dustwrapper with one small tear to upper, minor rubbing to head and tail of spine. A very good copy indeed.
The Commodore - 1945 - First edition. A pretty copy lightly browned printed on War stock paper.
Lord Hornblower - 1946 - First edition. Near fine copy with some spotting to paper edges and owners name to inside boards in nice jacket.
Lieutenant Hornblower - 1952 - First edition. Near fine copy in dustwrapper signed by the artist, showing only faint edgwear.
Hornblower and the Atropos - 1953 - First edition. Near fine copy slightly cocked in dustwrapper signed by the artist, with minor chips to head and corner.
Hornblower in the West Indies - 1958 - First edition. Near fine copy with offsetting to endpapers in pretty dustwrapper signed by the artist, small tear to rear and light edgewear.
Hornblower and the Hotspur - 1962 - First edition. Very pretty copy.
Hornblower and the Crisis - 1967 - First edition. Very pretty copy of Forster’s last novel, half finished, together with two short stories.
