‘Wilmot was an inspector general of forests in India. The author’s wife apparently collected several of his stories that had appeared in various periodicals and had them published as this work. There are unrelated vignettes of hunting tiger from elephant back, with additional tiger and panther adventures in the foothills of the Himalayas. While in Gorakhpur district, he hunted buffalo.’ - Czech (Asia 68).
