With title pages for both the Old and the New Testament, text in double column format.
  Provenance: Reverend Charles Berners Penrice (1828-1913), ordained at Norwich cathedral on 18th November 1851, a graduate of St John’s College Cambridge and known member of the Templar order. With his family details inscribed to the Family Register at the end of the Old Testament, together with the details of his wife Catherine Howman (1832-1906), and their two children Charles John (b-1865) and Mary Katherine (b-1867). There is also a hand inked Latin inscription coloured in red and blue to the verso of the front free endpaper.

  Bound in contemporary full pebble grain morocco, spine with gilt lettering and triple gilt filet panels enclosing intricate gilt tooling, boards with black and gilt borders, and gilt on beige ribbon border, enclosing further gilt detail, gilt and multicoloured intricately tooled turn-ins, mirrored patterns to facing endpapers, thick gilt gauffered edges.
