  African American Elliott Blaine Henderson [1877-1944] was born in Springfield, Ohio (1877), he was a contemporary of Paul Laurence Dunbar. A prolific poet, Henderson's works were mostly 'dialectic' and capture a rich African American dialect and heritage.
